Item Condition:

Very Good; The rod has been used but well taken care of after every fishing trip. It shows signs of NORMAL assembly wear on the male ferrules and/or LIGHT surface scratches on various parts of the blank. The reel seat hardware shows oxidation or SMALL dings from reel attachment. Overall you will be pleased with the rod’s condition, but it still looks moderately used. ALL PICTURES ARE OF ACTUAL ITEM.

This item comes with original rod sock and tube.

The Scott 703/3 was meant for whatever you throw at it. It's a fun rod built for serious fisherman. Glass is all the rage these days and own one built by the company that revolutionized modern fly fishing. Scott knows how to subtly mix modern with retro and the Fibertouch is what you get.

SCOTT F Series Fly Rods

From an era gone by! In between bamboo and graphite there was a period of soft casting, full flexing fly rods that simply put were just fun to cast; it was fiberglass! The guys at Scott reached back to create a small creek rod series that captures the fun feeling. Scott calls it the F Series for Fibertouch, but it should be FeatherTouch! This fly rod series is a wonderful reminder of the deep history of Scott Fly Rods. The full flexing F Series fly rods deliver a fly with a gentle touch and has the fish fighting (or should we say) playing ability that is second only to bamboo, that may even be debatable. These are not the heavy fiberglass fly rods of old, they are modern, fresh look at a great rod that was the stepping stone between bamboo and todays modern graphite rods.

Leland on Scott Fly Rods

Founded in 1973, by Harry Wilson, Scott quickly became known for their fine fiberglass fly rods. However, very soon, they began to experiment with graphite. Within a few years Scott developed, their signature, tapered hollow internal ferrule. In the late 1970's Scott's pioneering graphite rod, designed specifically for salmon and steelhead, was introduced. Further, they initiated one of the first true quality control rating systems for rod blanks. The result was greater consistency in rods throughout the production process.

Scott is a company whose history is filled with firsts. They were the first rod maker to introduce a five-piece fiberglass rod. They began to experiment with graphite as early as any rod maker. Scott was the first rod company to successfully develop and sell multi-piece graphite rods; and the list goes on and on. This foresight has lead to a number of developments in production and design that has made them one of today's industry leaders. The first Scott series to feature four piece rods in 2-12 weight sizes is the S3 series which soon lead to the S3S and now the S4 fly rods.

The S3 represented the best tip flex rod Scott has ever made. Given the overwhelming success of the S3 the team at Scott added a saltwater series to the line. Having gathered input from dealers and pros alike, this series will no doubt find itself battling some of the world's ultimate game fish. The S3S rods load as quickly as any rod out there. They are deadly accurate which is good for the angler and bad for the bonefish. This series features the patented Scott ARC reinforcement; this addition helps the angler land those trophy fish you see in all the magazines. All of these developments and design have lead to the design of "new" best tip flex rod the S4 fly rod.
