Sessions Antique Mantle Clock Walnut Original Superior Looks And Runs Great For SaleThis is a SUPERIOR ORIGINAL example of a RARE SESSIONS “Curley Walnut” WOOD Mantle Clock in SUPERIOR ALL ORIGINAL condition. It is a truly great and very classy mantle clock in need of a warm loving home. It is quite old and made circa 1908. Is a rare model we’ve never seen before. Everything is original! It is becoming very hard to find clocks that have all of their original parts as well as in superior condition. It has a signed Sessions Mfg. Co. "8-day time and strike movement” which chimes on the half-hour on a great sounding bell and counts the hours on the hour on a cathedral gong with a beautiful sound. The movement runs very well and keeps good time. The movement was just cleaned, oiled, pivots polished and bushings added where needed. This clock will not need servicing for many years to come, and is ready for the next 100 years! This is a labor intensive service, with many clockmakers charging 250.00 and up. We recommend having it oiled every 2 to 3 years to keep it in tip-top shape! With the purchase of this clock for an additional $ 2.25 we will include an oiler kit with a professional oiler loaded with enough oil to oil approximately 50 clocks with easy instructions so you could even do it yourself! This clock will not need servicing for many years to come, and is ready for the next 100 years! The rare case is beautiful, is in superior condition! The case is made of a beautiful walnut wood with its original feet with the rare design. The signed dial is the original dial with the original numbers in superior condition on the original dial pan. It also has an adjustment for fast and slow on the dial which can be turned by the small end of the included new double ended key. This is very handy so you don’t have to take the clock down off the shelf in order to adjust it for fast and slow. The metal (solid brass) around the dial is original and in super condition. Runs super great! The clock is 11 inches high, 6 inches deep and 15 inches wide. This is a very fine, well preserved rare mantle clock & the movement has been cleaned and oiled. Retains its original pendulum! This fine clock movement has been completely overhauled and cleaned. The main cause of antique clocks’ no longer working is that they need a good cleaning. Over time, the oil in the pivots gathers dust and particles of metallic grit, the result of normal wear. Also the oil breaks down and becomes thick and gummy, and actually acts like glue. The result is that the gears no longer turn freely, and the clock stops. A good cleaning usually is all the clock needs to be almost like new again! The cleaning procedure involves taking the movement out of the case and totally dismantling the movement. All the gears, rods, etc., are taken off of the clock plates and are hand scrubbed and inspected for wear. The springs are taken out of the barrels, stretched out, and hand cleaned and polished. The plates are thoroughly cleaned. Then all the parts are placed in an ultrasonic cleaning machine for the final cleaning. The pivots are polished on the lathe and the pallets are polished. Bushings are installed on any pivot holes that have become “egg shaped” from wear to make them perfectly round again. The movement is reassembled and oiled. (We use only the finest German Clock Oil). The springs are placed back and greased with top-quality synthetic spring grease and the complete movement is placed on a "running stand" and run for several days to insure all is well. It is easier to detect misalignments, bent rods, and worn pivots and gears while it is running in full view. We like to run the movement for over a week to be sure it will run a full 8 days on one winding, and that everything is well. By that time, any problems will usually show up. The final result is a movement that runs just like new! If you like we will include instructions and hints to keep it that way for the next 100 years (or more!). Google “Antique Clock Repair” or visit billsclockworks.com to see what the going price of an antique clock overhaul costs today! Usually over 350.00 for a time and strike movement and 450.00 for a Westminster Chime Movement.
