For SaleHere is an exquisite set of 4 antique Neoclassical cups and saucers from Nymphenburg - in the King's Pattern - each 12 panelled piece with 3 oval cartouches, painted 'en grisaille' (in shades of gray) with scenes of the buildings and grounds of the Nymphenburg Palace, enclosed with gilt and blue bands all tied by blue bows, and from which issue spindly, gilt stems, alternating with plain panels topped by feathery, gilt'feuilles de choux' - the cups with molded acanthus leaves outlined in gilt - the saucers with raised, blue beading at rims. Diameter of saucer is 6"; height of cup is 2 3/16"; diameter of cup at rim is 4". Marked: (shield and crown) Nymphenburg in underglaze green and handwritten initials and numbers. Condition is excellent - no chips, cracks, 'nicks', stains, distracting scratches or repairs; gilding is completely intact. As a note: Remarkably, all 24 handpainted cartouches have different scenes. There is a 3/4" crack to underside of one saucer, starting at rim. From the front you wouldn't know it was there. Sorry I missed it. I wanted to add a photo, but I've used up the 12 photos allows.
