This exciting and rare find includes a set of 7 straight razors in a leather case labeled for each day of the week. Unfortunately the set is not entirely complete as 1 of the 7 is a different brand. The original 6 (5/8\") are matched to their original leather case, all of which bear the markings of \'Chas Clements- \"King of Diamonds\"\'.
According to one online source, \"Clements were a high class London retailer, they sold a wide range of items. The 17 Billiter St outlet was opened some time between 1905-08 and it was closed before 1925.\" -britishblades.comHowever, I have not been able to find an affirmative reference to fully satisfy my own curiosity about the company. (If you find any further info I\'d love for you to share it with me.) :D
The original case is genuine leather and also bears the seal of Chas Clements. On the front of the case you\'ll notice the original owner\'s monogram \"C.J.M.\"
These items were found in impeccable condition if they are indeed over 100 years old. PLEASE SEE PICTURES FOR ACCURATE DESCRIPTION OF ITEM CONDITION. Some of my own \'non-professional\' observations: Several blades appear to be very keen, a good stropping and they may be ready to shave. The rest appear as though they could be honed to remove minor pitting and come out shave ready. One of the scales has a small crack on one side near the hinge, appears to open and close fine with care. I have not cleaned or altered these items in any way. All come as found.
The misfit (3/4\") razor highlighted in the last 2 photos, bears the insignia \"Works Sheffield\" on one side and \"Storey 171 Brompton Rd.\" on the other side. The misfit appears to have been used more than the original set of 6 as its condition is not as good as the others.
Package will arrived in a sturdy, appropriately sized box with adequate foam and bubble wrapping.
