Shearwater Pottery Mr. Aspirin Black Human Form Green Blue Glaze Marked Exc:
This excellent example of Shearwater Pottery comes from the estate of a Midwestern American art pottery collector; the collection will continue to be sold over the next few weeks.
This human form is called Mr. Aspirin. He looks to be playing a banjo or guitar and features a lovely green and blue glaze. He could be used as a lamp base and is in excellent condition—no chips, repairs or other damage. Mr. Aspirin measures 9” tall and approximately 6” across the widest part of the base. Please see all photos of the piece and its mark.
Shearwater pottery is a family business founded in 1928 by Peter Anderson, with his parents George Walter Anderson, Sr. and Annette McConnell Anderson. The local Ocean Springs, Mississippi clays were used to make Shearwater wares in the 1930s, and the company continues to make pottery today.
