Shelley Dainty Daisy Cup And Saucer...black ...(very Rare):
You are offerding on a Shelley cup and saucer in mint condition....no cracks...no chips, no crazing....Pattern 12087/6 is actually called "Century Rose" and it was produced by Shelley for export to Canada in November of 1932. "Century Rose is actually the first true "Dainty Black" that Shelley introduced to Canada in 1938 but instead of naming it "Century Rose", they just called it "Daisy", starting with 051/28 which everyone knows as "Dainty Blue". Of course, your set is older that the ones that have Pattern 051. A "Dainty Black" in the 051 series has Pattern Number 051/6. Ref: Sheryl Burdess, author of "Shelley Tea Ware Patterns, pages 41 and 165; Susan Hill, author of "The Shelley Style", page 176. Everyone knows how rare these are, with many considering them the "Holy Grail" of the Dainty Colored Series. Feel free to ask questions
