Shibe Park/connie Mack Stadium C 1911 Matted Print For Sale
Shibe Park built in less tha one year in 1909 holds the distinction of being the first concrete-and-steel stadium in the majors. It was originally namedfor Ben Shibe, an Athletics stockholder and baseball manufacturer. and was renamed Connie Mack Stadium in 1953. Intially only the Athletics played here but in 1938 the Philadelphia Phillies also started playing here. The NFL's Philadelphia Eagles also played here from 1940 to 1958. The A's moved to Kansas City in 1954. At that time the Phillies bought the stadium and played there until it was replaced by Veteran's Stadium. Shibe Park was torn down in 1976 while the All Star game was being played at Veteran's StadiumGiclee Print Open Edition
