We are pleased to offer this exceptional c1920 Shreve & Co. sterling silver coffee service with its original serving tray.
Founded in San Francisco in 1852 as a jewelry store by half brothers George C. and Samuel Shreve. Retailer of fine jewelry and decorative objects. Opened its own silver shop in 1883. Known for important commissioned works.
Classic tapering urn.
Beautifully applied and hand chased scrolling leaf and berry and beaded borders throughout.
Centre with bead framed oval medallion set within streaming bell flower, raised florete and vine.
The inset shoulder with medallion united by streaming garland.
Cover with well cast raised urn and globe finial.
Equally well cast handles and spout with applied medallion and bell flower streams.
The base with slender pierced panel with applied medallion, garland and bright cut engraved border work.
The matching tray in six petal circular form, with satin chased acanthus and bead rim. Conforming medallion and garland on pierced panel.
This Shreve & Co. sterling silver Neo-Classical coffee pot is 10 1/4 tall and 20 standard ounces.
The sugar bowl is 5 inches and it weighs 7 1/2 standard ounces.
The cream jug is 5 inches and 7 standard ounces.
The serving tray is 14 1/2 inches and 32 standard ounces.
Exceptionally thick heavy guage sterling construction throughout the entire service weighs 66 (standard) ounces.

In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. The shell and floral medallion decoration retains its original hand chased detail. Extensive pierced work free of splits or repair. Handle secure and with original heat stops. Few tiny scuffs and faint lines.
