Cobalto Calcite in Fluorescent Matrix Sphere - Morocco
  • Dale always experiments making spheres with any mineral that falls in his hands but unfortunately, not all of them work well. Cobalto calcite is one of them. Cobalto calcite usually comes in very thin layers of crystals (mostly druzy) on matrix and therefore it is not suitable for sphere making because all the crystals are lost in the process.
  • This stone worked exceptionally well. There are verygemmytransparentcobaltocalcite crystals in a hot pink and somelighter pink color in a mostly white matrix. Sections of thesphereare fluorescent and glow beautiful pinkish red and bluish purple under a black light. There is also a mouth-like vug and pyrite specks all over.
  • This Cobalto Calcite sphere is gorgeous and a rare collector\'s item.
  • The pictures of this cobalto calcite sphere were taken outdoors in sunlight and color variation from the actual stone is possible. I included a few pictures with the sphere under a black light but I apologize for their poor quality; I have not mastered the art of taking pictures in the dark yet.
  • The approximate size of this cobalto calcite sphere is 1.98\" diameter (50.4 mm) and it weighs about 7 oz.
