Item includes (1) Signed and inscribed \"Baa Baa Black Sheep\" hard cover book with dust cover by Col. Gregory \"Pappy\" Boyington, USMC (Ret.), 1958 printing, seventeenth printing. Item is free of page markings and highlights, no torn or damaged pages. Item dust cover is in very good condition with very minor shelf wear. Item also includes one Signed letter addressed to a Lambda Chi fraternity brother, in which Boyington thanks addressee for sending him a fraternity pin. Item letter was written on 12/13/1945, while recovering in Long Beach Naval hospital from wounds received as a POW. Letter was written on Boyington\'s last day in hospital, prior to reporting to Marine Flying base in El Toro, \"... to get in three months flying time in the following few days. After this I get started on three months leave\". Letter is addressed to same person to whom book was inscribed.

Item also includes three newspaper articles related to a commemorative fund raising flight and Col. Gregory \"Pappy\" Boyington\'s death, as shown in images.

Item also includes multiple pages of correspondence, from addressee of letter and to whom the book was inscribed, providing details of Boyington\'s Lambda Chi initiation and fraternity pin presentation, not shown. It is clear from the letter that Boyington was very proud of his Lambda Chi affiliation. Letter was written shortly after Boyington\'s Congressional Medal of Honor presentation.
