This is a beautiful lightly used Singer model 403A sewing machine. It is a slant model machine and some would argue that it is the best Singer ever made. Some prefer the 401, while others prefer the simpler to use 403.Both machines are \"Slant Model\" machines. If you look at the second picture you can see where the needle arm comes down at an angle versus being vertical. This \"Slant\" gives it more punching power for sewing through leather and multiple layers of denim. If you buy other parts (buttonholer or feet) make sure they are for a \"Slant Model\" Singer or they won\'t work.

This machine came out of a sewing cabinet and can set on a table, go in a case, or back in a cabinet. I have opened it up and oiled it and greased it at all the Singer recommended points. It has metal gears. In picturenine (9)I put two pieces of blue tape next to weep holes. These are oiling points. All you do is put 1-3 drops of oil at these points once or twice amonth depending on how much sewing you do. That way you don\'t have to open up the machine to oil it.

The machine is in excellent condition with very few marks caused by wear. It has a working light. The threading diagram is inside the left hand cover (picture 7). It has an internal motor so you don\'t have to worry about cloth getting tangled in an exposed belt on the motor. It comes with the following:
