Slag Glass Desk Or Piano Lamp Miller Or Bradley And Hubbard:
This is a very nice, pretty slag glass desk or piano lamp from the early 1920's. It is not signed, but there is a model number impressed into the base. I have never seen this particular lamp, butI am leaning toward Miller as the manufacturer, but it could be Bradley and Hubbard or another fine maker. The base is very heavy, enough so not to tip over if you have it hanging over a nice bookcase or piano. There are some remnants of original felt on the base. The gilt finish has faded nicely over the years to a darker color. The shade is eight inches in width. The circular part of the base is seven inches. Overall height is around 11 inches to the top of the arm. There is some honestwear to the finish in some places, on the shade and especially on the gooseneck arm, all pictured. The beautiful, originalcaramel slag glass is in great condition and all the clips holding the glass in place are present. The base has an adjustment knob for tilting the shade inwards and outwards, which works perfectly. The gooseneck arm also swivels left and right for perfect placement. I think the socket shell and ballpull chain are original as well. The guts of the socket I think have been replaced, and there is a newer piece incorporated into the top of the chain where it probably snapped at some point. The cord is a newer brown, plastic replacement however the old bakelite plug looks original. This is a very hard to find piece in great, original condition. Please feel free to ask any questions and they will be gladly answered. Thanks very much for looking.
