The single scan pretty much tells it all. This document measures 7 3/4 x 9 3/4, four pages with last three pages blank, dated January 5, 1853, and in fine condition with no tears or fold separations. The newspapers of the day, along with bills of sale such as this one, show how thoroughly entrenched was the slave institution in the decade before the Civil War.
