Infantry Divisions. Then medic komp. 408 , of the 8th Army Corps. He saw action on the Eastern Front when the 205th was rushed to the front during the Soviet Winter offensive 41/42, holding the area north of the Moscow-Smolensk Highway. He was wounded and sent back to Germany. After recovery he was trained as a combat medic and then in December 1942 posted to a Army Hospital.). Jan. 1943 he was transferred to Army hospital Krynice then to several other Army Hospitals. Franz was sent back to the front with the 208th Infantry
Division operating in Silesia under the 17th Army. Fate is unknown.
He was awarded the Winter East Front Medal, Infantry Assault Badge and the Wound Badge in Black.
