Rarely do you read an emotional first-hand account of close-range night combat while they resist an attack by half-drunk Germans or hold actual battle-singed paper in your hand but this 30-piece letter group has that and more. Written by Sgt. Ernest E. Crandall of the 102nd Infantry (later commissioned and placed in the 313th Inf./79th Division), these letters are quite historic ...two of them have burnt edges which he explains was the result of a close call with German artillery. There are 30 letters (no covers) with 26 of those from Sgt. Crandall and four written in the 1920's from his mother(?). Each is stored flat properly in document protectors and in a well-worn binder from the early 20th century. Some rough transcribed entries:
Careful packing/shipping is a flat $5.95 anywhere in the US.Payment is expected from winning buyer within five days of invoice. Questions welcome. Note: If you enjoy reading authentic AEF firsthand accounts and/or rarely-seen WW1 photography, please look at my current sales for the new book "Hell's Observer" ...it just might be the most detailed real-time account of war from a common American doughboy's viewpoint ever recorded. Please wait for invoice if multiple purchases were made so I can combine shipping to your advantage. Thanks for looking and good luck!
