Spanish American War? Officer Of The Deck Spyglass 1800's 12 1/2 Power Leather:
WAY cool antique spyglass from when when ships were made of wood and men were made of steel! Made for US Navy by Keuffel & Esser Co. NY, this is REALLY both rare and sweet! who knows, maybe Teddy Roosevelt used it! Made of Brass and Leather Naval "Officer of the Deck" nautical telescope. Its from the late 1800's my best guess and is in good condition for it's age and use. There are some cuts in the leather and stitches are pulled. Thisstyle and brand was one of the typespy glasses used by the military during the turn of the century or maybe before, I don't know. The tube pulls out very smoothly and returns just as easily. It focuses on distant objects clearly and precisely. Very impressive! Fully extended it measures 22 1/4inches and when retracted it measures 16 1/2 inches. The diameter on the big end is 1 1/2 inches. The stitching on the leather is in fair condition. The leather is wore and flaking. Lensare in very good condition and it has a slide sun filter!
