solid silver crucifix that is 6 inches long, and 5 inches across; it weighs 178 grams.
These pieces were made many years ago in South America
from melted Spanish silver coins, by local indigenous silversmith using the most primitive of methods and their own formulas in smelting the silver alloy. The production of finished goods was illegal in the Spanish Colonies until 1810; when finished goods were made before 1810, they were madeclandestinely, withouthallmarks. Wewill provide the provenance of this cross to the winning buyer, upon request.
