Spanish Mackerel Weathervane, Original Copper Fish:
Spanish Mackerel Weathervane
A Hand-Forged Architectural Ornament by Southern Sculptor David Smith
Made of Pure Copper and Brazed with Silver Alloy
Signed by Artist
"Spanish Mackerel Weathervane"--Fish make wonderful weathervane subjects because they knife through the wind exactly like they do through water. This is an original copper weathervane, created by using Earth elements, sculpting and Old World metalsmithing techniques. The process is done entirely free-hand, without the use of moulds, stamps, or machines. Each vane I create is an original work of art--no two are ever exactly alike. The mackerel is exquisitely detailed and has a beautiful natural patina. If you are familiar with the metallurgical properties of copper you can appreciate how it weathers and continually beautifies with age. Measures approximately 27 inches in length.
The Pinnacle of Architectural Art
This one-of-a-kind fish weathervane would look absolutely beautiful on your roof, atop a finial, cupola, beach houseor guest house; in a courtyard, garden, along a walkway, or above a gated entrance. Think of the many ways in which thisunique weathervane could complement your architecture. My weathervanes are often collected as indoor sculpture, and will be worth a small fortune someday when they reach antique status--an investment in fine art that your family will enjoy for generations.
