The saint was astigmata(the only priest who had thestigmata) for over 50 years. He bore the Passion of Christ in his every day life, and never complained at all. His hands, feet & side would bleed every day, but because St. Padre Pio loved Our Lord so much Christ allowed St. Padre Pio to live with thisStigmata for this long. No other person in history had ever had the stigmata for that long. Measures 1 1/8". But he prayed, and prayed & his favorite motto was "Pray, Hope, & Don't Worry" This is the life of a Saint. When he was not hearing confessions for 12 hours a day, he was attending to Mass for the people. They loved this great man of God, and he loved all of them.
