Staffordshire Pearlware Shield Pitcher ~ Prattware Yellow Flowers ~ C1820 Nr Af For Sale
Small English Staffordshire Ribbed and Beaded Shield Pitcher c1820
~ Prattware Palette Yellows Oranges Greens ~ As Found ~
4 3/4" high to top of handle ~ about 5" from spout to handle
A Staffordshire or Leeds very colorful small jug with molded helmut shape and ribbed sides with a wavy beaded shoulder, the rim and spout molded with large flowers and painted in bright yellow, orange, blue, brown and green, the classic high fire underglaze Prattware palette.
There is an old restoration to the spout which has yellowed slightly, the handle is softly aged darker than the rest, there is also some mild staining at bottom seen above throught the flower. The base has a short Y shaped hairline. Sold as found, but quite lovely on a shelf.
There are some patches of age discoloration, not bad but you can see above in the flowers and below around the base.
