Up for sale are 2 leather folios holding a correspondence collection of Dr. Eugene Weld.Dr. Weld was born on Aug 10, 1805 at Boston, MA and died on Jan 21, 1849 in New Iberia, La. of cholera, according to one of the letters icluded written by J. De Valcourt of New Iberia.Dr. Weldwas the son of Benjamin Weld who was the Deputy Collector of Customs, Boston, MA. one of his sisters was Abby Perkins Weld who married John Austin Stevens of New York. Dr. Weld graduated from Bowdoin College Maineand New York Medical School. Most of the letters appear to be addressed to family members and from family members. Letters from others are primarily about his death and the settlement of his estate. First Folio 1818-1852 and Second Folio 1825-1849 total of about 28 stampless covers with letters and8 letters with no covers. Alsoincluded is a copy of his will, copied inthe letter by J. De Valcourt alerting the family of Dr. Weld's death, and located in the Second Folio. Loose, but included with folios are 3 pictures of family members. A very interesting collection.
