Star Tobacco (lenticular) Tin Sign/sold Here/chew Pat. 1888 :
Up for sale is and extremely rare Star Tobacco tin sign that when you walk buy it says, SOLD HERE/STAR Tobacco/CHEW with a picture of the Tobacco on one end and stars on the other end of the sign. This sign is triple sign pat. July 24,ETC 1888 Roots & Heinemann Connersville, Ind.USA. I believe that this sign was made to hang in a store window as it has advertising on both sides, at eye level to catch ones attention when walking by. Wikipedia's explanation of Lenticular, "Lenticular printing is a technology in which lenticular lenses (a technology that is also used for 3D displays) are used to produce printed images with an illusion of depth, or the ability to change or move as the image is viewed from different angles." The sign measures 18 1/2"x 4 5/16" I have taken pictures of the sign as best I can so you can see the imperfections. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me before you offer. Thanks and good luck.
