FINE EXAMPLE OF ROBERT HENNELL I (SON OF DAVID HENNELL)
Pleased to offer this excellent example of early hand chased and respousse work. Of baluster form with a sloped and splayed rim, this cream jug stands 4 3/4 inches tall, and is 4 1/4 inches wide from the flying leaf capped double scrolled handle to the edge of thetaperedspout. There is a fine line of bead work running just under the rim. The jug weights 122 grams (4oz) The body of the creamer bears a repousse leaf and fauna theme in a pastoral design. An oval garland with ribbon bow surrounds the cartouche bearing hand engraved initials. Standing firm and level on a circular footed and sloped base. Matching bead work from under the rimencirclesthe base.
Punched with the lion passant for assayed English silver, the leopards head withcrownfor London (prior to 1824) date letter of \"c\" for 1778. and bearing the makers mark of \"RH\" in an oval for Robert Hennnell I.Robert HennellI1772..1785
