Stunning VINTAGE Solid Silver EGG CUP SET Hallmarked 1959 Sterling CASED SET NR
ASPREY - Egg Cup & Spoon - THIS SET IS NOT ENGRAVED
This is a super VINTAGE solid silver egg cup and solid egg spoon christening set that was made in London, England in 1960 by the illustrious silversmiths Wakely & Wheeler at their Red Lion Square workshops and retailed by ASPREY & COMPANY. The egg cupis inan elegant design with stylised engraved chicken and chick decoration. The egg cupmeasures 2 1/8" high and is 1 3/4" in diameter. The egg spoon is in the Old English pattern and is4 3/8" long and 7/8" across its bowl. The quality shows in the weight - the set weighs52.7 grams -virtually1 3/4troy oz. They are NOT engraved with a name or initials.
This set in very good condition with much less than the usual light surface scratching and no splits with NO dings or dents and NO distortion - SUPERB, near MINT condition. The egg cup and spoon are each hallmarked with W&W, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),leopard head,d or eshowing that each was hallmarked in London in 1960. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. So rare to find a vintage egg cup and spoon like this in MINT conditionand after over 50 years!!!!! It comes in its original gold tooled red leatherette box which is lined with cream silk and crimson velvet - in very good condition. Postage will be 4.50GBP both within the UK and to international destinations.
