Offered for sale is this stunning Japanese Bronze vase from the Meiji era (1868-1912)The vase is a superb example of the high quality craftsmanship of Japan during the Meiji period. Decorated in relief with a water lily pad and a small frog, the item is very typically Japanese - simple, unfussy yet highly detailed. The water lily pad forms the top three-quarters of the vase and seems to drape over the shoulders of the item. Close inspection reveals that every detail of the water lily pad has been painstakinglycrafted by the artist to include all the ridges, indentations, veins and even holes and tears that would be found in a real water lily pad.The addition of a small frog to the top of the pad adds a touch of realism to the item as well as a sense of humour. This is quite a large vase at 32 cms tall and is sure to be a conversation piece wherever it is shown. The vase has a deep and rich, dark patination and displays superbly. The quality of the work is absolutely first class as can be seen in the pics. This lovely item is offered in a sale.
