Superb 19th Century Chinese / Japanese Bronze Censer / Koro / Incense Burner:
Offered for sale is this superbly detailed Chinese or Japanese bronze censer (incense burner)Created in the 19th century the censer has a horse head finial on the cover and features a number of mythological creatures on the bulbous body of the item.
The censer (koro) is flanked by two Dragon handles (with split tails)
The item stands 5 inches high
The body of the koro features mythological creatures clutching a single ring and the body is supported by three animal mask feet. All creatures have been created with great attention to detail and I hope the pics reflect this. Please enlarge the pics to appreciate the craftsmanship.
The cover of the incense burner is topped by a horse head finial which sits in the centre of a circular symbol which I believe is the Chinese symbol for wealth and prosperity.
This item has a particularly nice patina and displays really nicely. A great piece of 19th Century Asian craftwork. This lovely item is offered for sale in a sale.
