Superb Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre Daisy Makeig Jones Moorish Smoke & Ribbons Bowl For Sale
This is an absolutely fabulous & exquisite,extremely rare,circa 1920s,Wedgwood,Daisy Makeig Jones, FairylandLustre,Moorish Smoke & Ribbons large octagonalbowl, profusely decorated to the interior and exterior, with gold gilt linear and coloured decoration.
Outside: Moorish. Against a black background ornate crimson columns support shallow curved arches, red-checked, and behind them are yellow gothic arches, and red and yellow fan vaulting and blue spandrels. Fountains and ornamental treesare bright green, and blue panels on the black ground contain formalised flower sprays of red and violet.
Inside: Smoke Ribbons. Black columns and capitals holding stylisedleaves and flowers are silhouetted against a daylight sky. They are connected by a black parapet below, and above by an edge of purple wisteria. Green islands in a blue sea hold the usual Middle Eastern towers and buildings. The two winged figures are brown, and coiling wisps and yellow ribbon-like smoke drift upwards from a brazier.
To the base is a printed portland vase mark ingold script with number for this pattern isZ5125.
It's in absolute fantastic original condition with no chips, scratches,flee bites,restorationand very littlegilt wear.... areallyfabulous piece of Wedgwood lustre ware ......hard to believe it's93 years of age. I'm afraid my photo's aren't doing thismagnificent piece ofWedgwood lustre ware truejustice, because thelight refection is hindering the exquisite visual appeal, of this spectacular bowl.Whoever purchases this, I guarantee will not be disappointed.
