This is a superb, boxed, 10 carat gold antique Victorian circa 1890 Scottish agate and Cairngorm citrine brooch.
I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.
The stones are classic orange and yellow jaspers from the Campsie Fells in Stirlingshire and green and red speckled bloodstones from the Isle of Rum. the central stone is a lovely facetted golden citrine from the Cairngorm mountain range that has been fully tested by a local jeweller and is a genuine citrine.
The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces of this period, but has been fully tested by a local jeweller and is 10 carat solid gold. The width is 4.3 cm ( One and three quarter inches ) and the pin and C clasp are in good working condition and original.The brooch will come in it\'s original fitted box as shown.
