Surrealist Frederick Haucke - Contemporary of Salvador Dali, Orig. Painting 1953:
$1818.72

A stunning example of the Surrealism, from renowned artist Frederick Haucke, this large master work of his measures48\" L x 36\" H. It isbreathtaking and expertly rendered! Born in 1908, just 4 years later than the famous Salvador Dali, it is apparent that Haucke was inspired by the same Surrealist Movement.
This New York painter exhibited at major galleries in during the 1940\'s and 1950\'s. He is know to have exhibited in majorgalleries in the East, including Perls Galleries and Creative Galleries in NYC.Haucke is represented in many private collections and museums including the City Art Museum, St. Louis, The Cleveland Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum, New York as well as the Chicago Art Institute Museum of Art.
The work is expertly executed in minute, painstaking detail. I am sure this work took quite a while for him to create judging by the fine shading throughout. I have taken close up photographs of the tree branches and water, showing the lovely shading of the branches, which pick up the color of the sky and water in the way they are shaded. The detail on the water is so intricate and beautifully created that I also took a close up of that portion of the painting for you to enjoy as well. It is a fantastic original piece from the era, not a reproduction.
This painting would be a welcome additionany serious collector of the genera. There is no damage done to the surface of the painting. The corners of theMasonite board show some minor wear but are all intact with no chips which is natural for a painting not in a frame that is 64 years old!
In the research I have done on this artist, it was not uncommon for paintings he created onartist board to be preparedfor hanging by Hauckegluing one or two pieces of wood on the backside of theMasonite Board. Onthe back-side of this painting there are no boards still in existence. However, there are marks and some of the woodpulp isgone in 4 spots where these boards apparently wereonce glued.
I believed that a previous owner removed the boardsin order to frame the work as surrounding the exterior board of the painting is some wear marks from being in a frame. You can see the detail of this wear on the close-up photo I have of the artists name. However, it is truly undetectable when the painting is displayed as you can see in the photographs of the work.
Also note, that two of the spots where the boards were removed on the back appear to have beenfilled with wood filler at some time, with one of those spots being covered by a cream-colored felt. Most likely to protect a wall from any sharp edges of the wood filler after it dried. However, these filled spotshave not taken away at all from the beauty of the front side of the painting which shows no signs of the board removal on the back-side.
I am happy to answer any questions you may have so please ask me.Good luck offerding on this one of a kind original Surrealist painting by one of the great masters of the art form!
