Description:A very stylish and extra large sized art glass vase using submerged sommerso teknik with 4 layers of colours and streaks within the glass. Designs of this type are normally attributed to designers such as Luigi Onesto and other similar glass designers from Italy & Czech Republic. Another Timeless Design.
Sommerso is a term for a
technique used to make coloured glass in all shapes and forms. The basic
principle of sommerso involves submerging different colors beneath clear glass
to form coloured glass creations that can include vases, sculptures and beads. Sommerso
glass is known for its shine, color and dramatic effect.
The sommerso technique is
unique. It features a solid colour of molten glass fused with a second layer of
clear glass that serves to preserve the color of the first layer without
allowing it to fade into the second layer. Coloured layers of glass are sealed
within layers of clear glass. Clear layers are blended together to create form
and shape without degrading any of the colours contained in the design.
Generally, the technique is achieved by dipping a solid glass object into a
layer of molten glass.
