Sven Palmqvist For Orrefors Kraka Nr. 349 Lovely Vintage Art Glass Vase~no Resv For SaleOffered here is this estate-fresh Orrefors Kraka art glass vase. This is the famous 1944 design of Sven Palmqvist. The design was made, with some variations, from 1944 until 1986. It's a form of graal glass. A fine mesh is stretched across a cooled 'blank' of glass. Sandblasting creates a pattern around the mesh. The piece is reheated and another layer of glass traps air bubbles in the depressions. Kraka was the name of a wise and lovely woman in a Norse myth, who had to meet a Viking hero 'neither clothed nor unclothed'. She came draped in a fishing net. Kraka was brought into series production in 1960, meaning that from that point on, more were made. If you search the web you'll find that these are usually being offered for prices greater than US $1000. This one offered with no hidden reserve and a low starting offer. The vase measures 8 1/4" tall and about 5 1/4" wide. It is in excellent condition, showing minor wear to the base. There is a tiny .05mm fleabite in the edge of the base that can be felt, but not easily seen. Three-day inspection/return on all items I offer, if not as described. Fedex ground shipping and insurance to be paid buy purchaser (15.00). Thanks.
