This sale is for one of the best Chinese porcelain lanterns that we have had the priviledge of selling. The lantern shows incredible detail with openwork on each side of the six sided piece. In the center of each side is a porcelain roundel with a hand painted scene of birds among trees and flowers. The trim of the lantern is done in an intricate scrolling and flower design with bats and other objects. Not enough can be said about the detail and quality of the piece. The lantern stands 11.5 inches (29.25cm) tall. The lantern is very thinly potted and what is remarkable is the condition of the piece. There are no chips, cracks, or restorations. It is extremely difficult to find these with no damage, in addition to finding one of this quality. Truly a spectacular piece of Chinese porcelain dating to the 19th century.
