Eisenhower Joseph Stilwell Douglas MacArthur George MarshallALSO: Diary of a Sergeant Combat America - One-hour 1943 documentary narrated by Clark Gable. Topic is the Army Air Force's 351st Bombardment Group. Voices of WarI am buying this DVD because I admire (not hero-worshipping) the man and greatness in the four-star American General George S. Patton. He was instrumental in leading the Third Army which penetrated speedily into the hinterland of Germany to defeat the Nazi armies of the tyrannt, Adolf Hitler. Patton went so fast in entering the then Nazi-ruled Germany with the main aim to reach Berlin before the Russians, and that Eisenhower had to stop him by not supplying him with supplies, especailly gasoline for his fighting tanks. Somehow his tank commanders, when the gasoline was used up, came to a grinding halt with their tanks blazing and terminated in fighting the enemy troops with hand-to-hand-combat, and still won the battle! Thus, is the iron discipline and quality leadership of General Patton despite being discriminated by his "boss" - the so-called Allied Supreme Commander Eisenhower. It is destiny that General Patton did not lived long to see the begin of the Cold War between his country and Russia which he had somehow prophetically predicted. While governor of Bavaria, Patton said he could use the former SS. Nazi forces in his detention camps plus his Third Army to push the "Huns", meaning his despicable term for the Red Russians, all the way back to Moscow. Patton questioned the Allied Supreme Command why he and his troops were not allowed to take Berlin which soon became a divided city. General Marshal indeed made the final decision against Eisenhower in not punishing Patton and sending him back home after the soldier-slapping incident. Had Patton lived and not died under suspicous circumstance, he could lead the American armies to win the Korean and Vietnam Wars!!! So go for this DVD which shows the difference in able leadership between Patton, Marshal and Eisenhower. Cheers!
