Tin Friction 1952 Ford Hardtop Car Needs A Little Help Marusan Kosuge Japan For SaleI'm selling a very nice tin friction 1952 Ford hardtop car made by Marusan/Kosuge of Japan. The car measures 10 inches or 25+ centimeters long. It is complete and original with the exception of two replacement tail lights. The car is in good, played with condition. The beautiful dark red paint has terrific gloss and a beautiful patina. There are a number of small scratches and chips in the paint, particularly around the tail lights and the headlights. The chrome trim is quite bright and shiny with only a few areas of darkening. The interior is in very nice condition and the car still has its original heavy celluloid windows in excellent condition. The top of the car has a few small dings but the car has a very nice overall appearance. In the title, I mentioned that the car needs a little help. The car itself is nice, it is really the base that is more the problem. The base appears to have been for a car that had a hand held remote connected by a cable. The cable and remote are long gone, all that remains of the base are the tires and hubcaps; there is no motor. The hubcaps have been touched up a bit and two of the four hubcaps are from a similar period Marusan vehicle. The tires are a little hardened from age. One of the tabs on the back bumper is broken. The car looks very nice as it is but I feel like some buyers might want to take the car and combine it with a better base. For that reason i made no attempt to securely fasten the body of the car to the base. It is very nice right now but could stand to be secured a little better. I will leave that up to the new owner or I will be happy to secure it better if the winning buyer would like. This is a very nice, played with tin car. It is very far from perfect but it displays very well just as it is or could be improved quite easily. The car is pictured on page 84 and 85 of the wonderful Big Book of Tin Toy Cars.
