Tin Friction 1953 Oldsmobile Two Tone Hardtop Fat Car Yonezawa/ichiko Japan:
I'm selling a 1953 tin friction two toned hardtop fat Oldsmobile car made by Yonezawa/ Ichiko of Japan. It measures 10 1/2 inches or 27 centimeters long and it is complete and all original. It is in very good, played with condition. Ichiko made several different model vehicles in the early 1950's with a distinctive two toned paint. I have seen the two toned colors in their early Chevrolets, the Oldsmobiles and also in the larger classic fat 1953 Pontiac. The paint has a great patina, a gloss and an almost handmade quality to the its surface that makes each car very distinctive. The paint on this car is in very nice shape, although there are a number of scratches and chips in the surface. This car has a very nice, very detailed interior and it is in excellent condition. The original steering wheel is still in place. There never was any window plastic with the tin window frame, the car is complete with no plastic. The chrome trim is in excellent condition with a few small areas of darkening, especially on the back bumper of the car. The base and tires are in good condition and the friction motor works very well. This is a nice example of a classic tin friction early 1950's tin car. I personally love these old Oldsmobile cars; you often see them at car shows today as wonderful, classic hot rods. Ichiko really captured the feel and stance of the car. The 52 Olds is pictured on page 160 of the great Big Book of Tin Toy Cars.
