More about the 59 Oldsmobile. The car measures 13 inches or 33 centimeters long and it is complete and all original. The car is in excellent, lightly played with condition. This is a pretty terrific car. The paint is unusually nice, the paint on these cars doesn't always seem to wear that well, but this example is really nice. The two tones of blue have stayed very strong, the light blue tone has not faded at all, which is really nice to see. The color has a really nice surface with a good shine. There are a few areas of damage, particularly at the very front of the car near the front bumper where there is some paint chipping. There is a little ding along the passenger front side of the car and a little bit of a dip in the top of the car. The chrome trim is in great shape, bright and shiny; the headlights and front trim have still kept a good deal of its gold coloring, although not all. The interior of the car is in terrific shape although I'm not sure if the plastic steering wheel is original; it looks slightly small. The window plastic "glass" is all original but does have some issues. Overall it is very good, but it is pulling away from the frame slightly in the back and there are a couple of small cracks on the edges of the front windows. The base of the car is in good shape with some wear and the remnants of an old price sticker. The friction motor is iffy. It works if you get the wheels in the right place but it is sketchy. The friction motors on the Ichiko Oldsmobile cars are very hard to find in working condition and this car is no exception. I have just listed every little fault I can find with the car, but the good news is that this car is much more than the sum of its flaws. It is a really stunning car in a lot of ways with a great look and a terrific patina. The two tone blue colors combine beautifully with the very detailed chrome trim and the beautiful hubcaps are in great shape. The car is listed on page 161 of the great Big Book of Tin Toy Cars.
