Two Antique Serving Spoons Very Ornate Possibly Russian In Origin/ Many Marks For Sale
TWO BEAUTIFUL AND UNUSUAL 19TH C. SERVING SPOONS
The two matching spoons are 8 1/2" long and are very ornate on the front of the handle. Please see photograph for details. They look Russian in style.
The back of the handle shows many marks which are not French even though the spoons were found in a French Estate.
Inside a crown you have the letters EP and a B below the crown. Perpendicular to the crown and in the length of the handle you have DF & SG. Then you have what looks like an unusual mark. The cartouche is a diamont with a half circle at the top. Withing this cartouche you have different letters and numbers. They are very clear but foreign to me. I hope the photograph can help you.
The two spoons are absolutely beautiful and definitely sterling silver quality. They are in perfect condition and polish easily.Theywigh about 3 1/2ounces on my kitchen scale.
Let me know if yourecognize this hallmark, please!
