Two Beautiful C1891 B&d Bawo & Dotter Elite Limoges Butter Pats, Pink Roses:
On the reverse of these two prettybutter patsisthe red decorator's backstamp number 8of Elite Works, also known as Bawo & Dotter, one of the great Limoges firms at the turn of the last century. Accordingto the third edition of the Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gaston, this mark was in use between 1891 and 1900.
The green Elite white ware backstamp also appears, indicating that B&D produced the porcelain.
The butter pats arebeautifully hand painted, inkeeping with the exceptionally high quality that made the company's porcelain so famous, and so coveted.The pattern features garlands of tiny pink roses.
Each pat is 3 1/2 inches in diameter.
Both are in great condition.Thereare no chips, cracks, nicks, stains, repairs, crazing, utensil marks or wear.
