Tales of a Traveler; Irving’s Works, v. 7. “Author’s revised edition” (per title page). 456 p. 5 1/2” x 7 1/2”. Work is a collection of essays and short stories written by Irving when he was living in Europe, published in 1824 under the pseud. Geoffrey Crayon. 3/4 Brown leather spine and corners over brown cloth with gilt lettering and decoration on spine with raised bands. Staining visible on cloth front and back and general wear to leather spine, edges, and corners. Marble edges and inside covers. Hinges and text block tight; clean pages with only light tanning. Past owner’s bookplate inside front cover and name inside flyleaf; gift inscription on back flyleaf. Two black and white engravings frontis., separated by tissue and showing significant foxing. In spite of visible use, this is a handsome and readable edition.
