A Japanese Art Deco lusterware vase by Tashiro Shoten, Nagoya, a quality rivaling that of Noritake. Though I\'ve handled lusterware off and on for many years, I\'ve not run across this drip style decoration before. The effect is of a kiln produced drip glaze, though the design is actually handpainted. Background color is medium blue luster, the drip design a deep orange gradually shading to gold luster. The drips are outlined in a deep blue green. The luster glaze as well is thicker and richer than I\'ve seen, not simply the thin \"sheen\" effect customary.
