I have included the instructions on how to use this Gold testing kit. It is very easy to read & understand and I am here to help you if you have any problems at all. Please take your time and read it carefully. After a few minutes, it will all make sense to you and after a few tries using this kit, you will be like a pro! Lets get started!First the directions that nobody else includes in their listings!

To test from 9k, 10k, 14k, 18k, 22k 24K and Platinum. Yes! 9k to 24K....Read on!

* WHEN USINGWITH A TESTING STONE.

* Start withyour 10k solution. Take your jewelry item you want to test and make a coupleback and forth scratches onto your tester stone. Apply 1 drop 10k solution ontoyour test scratch. Wait 6-10 seconds. Hold the stone under bright lamp and tiltthe stone to allow the acid to run up and down the length of your test scratch.Do not let the acid drip off the stone. Examine the residue.

If theresidue looks copper color, it is 9k and many Victorian era jewelry items weremade in the 9k gold content. If it has not changed color and still looks likethe GOLD you placed onto the stone, it is at least 10k so now you use your 14Kbottle. If your 14k bottle dissolves your test scratch, it is 10k gold. If itdoes not fully dissolve, it is 14k or higher….now use 18k bottle, If itdissolves your test scratch, it is 14k, if not, it is now at least 18k. If 22k dissolvesyour test scratch, it is 18k, If 22k dissolves your test scratch, it is 24k.

EXAMPLE: The same applies when testing for 24Kgold. If your 22K bottle does not dissolve your test scratch, it is higherKarat then 22K. That\'s why there is no need for a 24K bottle. The 10K bottlewill test for 9&10K and the 22K will test for 24K. It is by process ofelimination that you test all your gold. Very easy after a few tries.

* WHEN USING WITHA NEEDLE FILE. If your kit came with aneedle file, find a place where you can file a small groove or notch onto theitem without ruining the item, but only file just enough to get below thesurface About 1 hair thick/deep to get under the plated, filled, dipped orbonded surface. File a small groove behind a link where it can\'t be seen whenworn. Note: Many \"clasps\" are solid gold when the chain is justplated so test a LINK and NOT just the Clasp if a necklace being tested. Useyour own good judgement on all jewelry items where to test.

* TESTING PLATINUM. A Platinum test scratch ontester stone will remain the “same color” with no reaction from your acid solution.If you test aluminum, same reaction. Note: Aluminum is not heavy at all,Platinum is very heavy.

When using a file with any of your solutions,Use a magnifier to see if there is any fizzle or bubbling\"GREEN\"...if it fizzles green, it is junk or base metals. If purpleor blue, it is also Junk base metals and not solid gold.

These acids will leave a mark if not donecorrectly and/or if the item is NOT gold. At least you will know if it is realor not real gold. The test stone ONLY helps to determine if gold plated. You need a needle file. One is includedin this kit and is a MUST HAVE item.
