Check and Brass Plate

This is an authentic, beautifully framed autograph of Thomas Alva Edison, the greatest American inventor.Thomas Alva Edison (February 11, 1847 – October 18, 1931) was an American inventor and businessman. He developed many devices that greatly influenced life around the world, including the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and a long-lasting, practical electric light bulb. Dubbed "The Wizard of Menlo Park", he was one of the first inventors to apply the principles of mass production and large-scale teamwork to the process of invention, and because of that, he is often credited with the creation of the first industrial research laboratory.

Edison is the fourth most prolific inventor in history, holding 1,093 US patents in his name, as well as many patents in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. He is credited with numerous inventions that contributed to mass communication and, in particular, telecommunications. These included a stock ticker, a mechanical vote recorder, a battery for an electric car, electrical power, recorded music and motion pictures. This beautiful autograph is on a check from the Edison Botanic Research Corporation. This is a real check, and not one of the facsimiles being sold on this site. The check is signed "Thomas A. Edison," in his trademark "umbrella" signature. The cancellation of the check does not affect the body of the autograph, as it does on some other checks, and only slightly crosses the "umbrella" part of the "T" in Thomas. This piece has been beautifully framed with a separately framed portrait of Thomas Edison within the main frame, and an engraved brass plate with his name and years of birth and death. The check is also separately floated and framed within the main display in a separate smaller wooden frame. The framing is solid wood, and the tan inset appears to be some form of suede, leather or cloth, as it is soft to the touch. There are a few small edge scratches and dings, and one indentation at the top of the frame [which can easily be filled and repaired, and are shown in the picture], but otherwise this piece is in beautiful condition, as you can see from the pictures of the actual item you will be buying. This autograph was originally purchase from and framed by the Heritage Collectors Society, in Hatfield, PA, one of the nation's preeminent dealer's of collectible historical items and autographs, as can be seen from the last photo.Don't miss this opportunity to put a ready to hang, beautifully displayed Thomas Edison autograph on your wall. They don't come much nicer than this.
