Tiffany & Co. Watch With Patek Philippe Mvmt., Circa 1888 With Unusual Case For Sale
Circa 1888 Tiffany & Co. watch with a movement made by Patek Philippe.
Measuring 47mm (1 13/16") in diameter, this could have been either a gentlemans vest pocket watch, or a larger ladies pendant watch. In any event, the thin coin edged hinged back case is in beautiful condition, featuring bold sunflowers in front of a fence with a farm in the distant background. Although the case looks like silver, there are no markings to indicate metal used.
Thefired enamelTiffany & Co signed press fit dial is in perfect condition with no hairlines, damage, or repairs, and the ornate hands are also quite nice as is the unusual crystal which has a faceted diamond cut edge.
The high grade 28mm movement made by Patek Philippe for Tiffany & Co, is in good running orderand has been keeping time within about 60 seconds in 24 hours.The serial number on the movement is 81,890 which would date it to approximately 1888.
