For sale is a vintage tin friction 1959 Oldsmobile police car made by Ichiko of Japan. The car measures 13 inches or 33 centimeters long and it is in very good, played with condition. It is complete with the exception of a missing antenna. The car is almost completely original although I believe the roof has been repainted. It looks fine, it blends very well with the rest of the car. The paint is in nice shape with some chips and scratches in the paint. The surface of the tin has a nice gloss. There are a few areas where the black paint has been touched up a bit. The chrome trim is in excellent condition, bright and shiny with only a few areas where the chrome has darkened. The tires and base are in very good condition with some wear. The front and back window \"glass\" looks great but it might have been replaced. It is a really excellent replacement, very hard to tell if it is original or not. The speed meter doesn\'t seem to be working, it might need some tinkering. The friction motor doesn\'t really work; it somewhat works in reverse but forward is not working. I really love these Ichiko Oldsmobile; they made a number of versions of the car with different chrome trim and different lights and sirens. They are extremely well made and very detailed. This version is a long way from perfect but it is a nice example of a terrific line of police cars. It is pictured on page 120 of the great Big Book of Tin Toy Cars Commercial and Racing Vehicles.
