This is for a Kansas United States Forces 1917-1918 Recognition medal. It has a Kansas with capitol dome pin bar. There is a red, white and blue ribbon with some fraying. The medal is in the form of a cross.

The obverse has nice scroll work to the ends, a banner reads United States Forces over the outstretched wings of an eagle. These are above a 5 star shield with 1918 and 1918 on either side.

The reverse has the inscription:

PRESENTED BY THE PEOPLE OF SHAWNEE CO. KANSAS IN GRATEFUL RECOGNITION FOR PATRIOTIC SERVICES IN WORLD WAR

There is a shield with some sort of seal but I am unable to see it clearly.

It was made by Whitehead and Hoag and measures about 1-1/2" wide by 3" total height.

It was stored with the lot of Captain A.M. Mills that I currently have at sale. He was from Topeka, KS.

This may be reflected in higher shipping charges than you might see otherwise due to double boxing of some items, excessive wrapping, larger boxes, etc. I love to save you money and combine shipping where possible. We are a family that is enjoying selling items of interest from estate sales, sales and the like (as well as some personal things here and there). I've gotta pay for our kids lego addiction and my love of baseball cards. I have recently turned this from a hobby into a full-time job so ask that you bare with me as the scale and scope of what I list, sell and ship grows. I changed to full-time as the result of the economy in the last year or so. I also have restarted my college education and am currently a sophomore seeking an accounting degree as it is more stable than what I used to do.
