A rare model, in exceptional condition. This is a vintage Topping Atlas missile with Mercury capsule, standing 19" tall. I purchased it many years ago from the estate of Joe Goldsmith, who made all the steel dies for Topping. Flawless paint and decals. The vernier rockets and tubing are complete—nothing is missing or broken. Tiny separation of one escape tower strut, imperceptible to the eye and even in the close-up photo. The heavy metal base is 6" in diameter with perfect paint and soft black velvet-like protective cloth underneath that's like new. The round gold-color nameplate reads "Convair Division General Dynamics Corporation Atlas-Mercury Man in Space for NASA". (A brand new NOS nameplate is available at Precise Models LLC for $2 and postage.) A variant of this model, painted all silver, appears in the classic 1961 Topping Models catalog. I'll double-box the missile, and ship the stand in a separate box since it's so heavy. Photos show the actual model and stand.
