DURING THE 18TH CENTURY, TRADE BETWEEN NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS IN CANADA AND EUROPEAN TRADERS WAS VERY ACTIVE. FUR PELTS, GREATLY VALUED IN EUROPE, WERE TRADED FOR SILVER PIECES MADE FOR THE HUDSON BAY CO., SUCH AS THEEFFIGY/PENDANT IN THIS sale. THEY WERE HIGHLYVALUED BY THE INDIANS, WHO EITHER WORE THEM AS A PENDANT OR ATTACHED THEM TO THEIR CLOTHING AS A SIGN OF WEALTH ORPRESTIGE. IF A BEAVER EFFIGY WAS WORN, GOOD BEAVER HUNTING COULD BE EXPECTED.
THIS IS A HARD-TO-FINDCOLLECTIBLE, IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. WHITE SPOTS IN PHOTOS ARE FROM CAMERA FLASH.
THIS EFFIGY/PENDANT WAS PURCHASED FROM A DEALER IN MINNESOTA. AS THIS PIECE DID NOT COME WITH PROOF OF AUTHENTICITY (OTHER THAN THE WELL-REPRESENTED HALLMARKS), THIS IS MENTIONED SO THE BUYER WILL TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN offerDING.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS BEFORE offerDING.
