In golden age of Bukhara in the 19th century had reached the art of gold sewing. Talented masters were embroidered the splendid attire of the Emir and cloths of his suite. Mainly court cloths, accessories of women's and men's costumes were decorated with: robes, belts, headgear, and shoes. Embroidering in gold was generally performed by men, who handed the trade down to their sons. Gold-embroiderers called "Zarduze". Figures for gold sewing were created by men-experts - drawers – "tarhkash" which, perfectly owning ornamental forms and possessing art imagination, are the basic creators of this art. They enriched it with new patterns and compositions and kept set of ancient patterns in their memory. The role of embroiderers was the performance of these patterns by gold embroidery. They should show the big taste and full possession of gold-sewing techniques to realize the drawer's creative plans. There were two different techniques of gold-sewing: "zarduzi zaminduzi" and "zarduzi gulduzi". In the embroidery art the technique of "zarduzi zaminduzi" was spread, in which the background was sewed in a solid gold mass. In the 20th century the technique of "zarduzi gulduzi" is being developed in which the elements of pattern are cut off from leather or card board, put over the fabric and covered with gold-threads.
