A rareoriginal vintage 8x10 photo of Mary Miles Minter in her most famous film – Anneof Green Gables, 1919. In older age, Minter hand wrote at the top “Anne ofGreen Gables – 1917 – I was 17”. Apparently in old age, Minter misrememberedthe date of the film, although she did correctly write what her age was at thetime. Creased at the bottom, otherwise very good. Anne of Green Gables was directed by WilliamDesmond Taylor, Minter’s lover and the victim of a murder which remainsunsolved to this day. Along with a rival lover, Mabel Normand, Minter wassuspected of the murder and the scandal ended her career. Most historians haveconcluded that the real killer was most likely Minter’s controlling mother. Thisrare photo from the lost first film of Anne of Green Gables with an inscriptionby Minter is a very special historical souvenir!
