*Few plants probably remindone more of the tropical experience than the Traveler Palm. An absolutely spectacular wide leafed plant, uniquely growing it's leaves on one plane, resembling that of a giant hand fan. Some believe part Banana, part Palm(though not a palm tree), regardless, one plant no tropical looking garden should be without. Undoubtedly these will bea focal point of any garden.
*Traveler Palms grow quickly in heat and full sun, a fast draining soil, and thrive with ample water and humidity in the warmer months. Cold hardy to approx 28 F, making it a USDA Zone 10 plant or higher(though some are able to grow them in Zone 9 with protection from frost). Ultimately these can reach heights of 30 feet or more, with leaves on some specimens extending 20 feet, though 8-12 feet is more common. These can be grown indoors in areas with much ample light, or in a warm atrium, or protected courtyard.

*Once plants arrive, they will benefit from being kept in a1-3 gallon container, slightly moist, warm, and in a fast draining soil, such as Supersoil, or a quality Cactus-Mix(available at any Home Improvement or local Nursery Supply Center), or in the ground. Any of the following ingredients such as pumice, small bark chips, perlite, wood shavings, vermiculite, and coarse sand can all be used to benefit good drainage.Smaller plantstypically favor shade, filtered sun, or partial sun until established(approx. 2'-3' tall or larger), when they can handle more/full sun. These plants should be planted at a soil height slightly above where the roots graduate from the base. Whether you are a 'green thumb' or a beginner, these are easy plants to grow, and will beautify your landscape.
